Top 5 Robots in the world

1 – Hanson Robotics Sophia

Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia was activated on February 14, 2016 and made her first public appearance at South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States. It is able to display more than 50 facial expressions.Sophia has been covered by media around the globe and has participated in many high-profile interviews. In October 2017, Sophia, the robot became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country. In November 2017, Sophia was named the United Nations Development Program's first ever Innovation Champion, and is the first non-human to be given any United Nations title. read more

2 – ASIMO

ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) is a humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000.ASIMO took more than two decades of persistent study, research, and trial and error before Honda engineers achieved their dream of creating an advanced humanoid robot.ASIMO has the ability to recognize moving objects, postures, gestures, its surrounding environment, sounds and faces, which enables it to interact with humans. The robot can detect the movements of multiple objects by using visual information captured by two camera "eyes" in its head and also determine distance and direction. .ASIMO can run, walk on uneven slopes and surfaces, turn smoothly, climb stairs, and reach for and grasp objects. ASIMO can also comprehend and respond to simple voice commands. ASIMO has the ability to recognize the face of a select group of individuals. Using its camera eyes, ASIMO can map its environment and register stationary objects. ASIMO can also avoid moving obstacles as it moves through its environment.Read more

3 – Sony Aibo

AIBO is a series of robotic pets designed and manufactured by Sony. Sony announced a prototype Aibo in mid-1998. The first consumer model was introduced on May 11, 1999. New models were released every year until 2006. Although most models were dog-like, other inspirations included lion-cubs and space explorer, and only the ERS-7 version and ERS-1000 versions was explicitly a "robotic dog".Sony's new-and-improved  Aibo robot dog is finally coming to the US. Read more

4 – Stanford University Snake Robot

Stanford researchers develop a new type of soft, growing robot. Stanford university researcher develop snake type robot  which is useful in various type of rescue operation. The basic idea behind this robot is straightforward. It’s a tube of soft material folded inside itself, like an inside-out sock, that grows in one direction when the material at the front of the tube everts, as the tube becomes right-side-out. In the prototypes, the material was a thin, cheap plastic and the robot body reverted when the scientists pumped pressurized air into the stationary end. In other versions, fluid could replace the pressurized air. Read more

5 – Festo Octopusgripper

“The OctopusGripper is a grasping device inspired by the octopus’s tentacle.this robot is Inspired by the eight-legged ocean creature’s soft muscle, the OctopusGripper robot designed by German robotics company Festo to work safely alongside humans. the artificial tentacle is not only able to grip in a gentle and safe manner. It also fulfils the strict criteria of a soft robotics component and thus has great potential for collaborative working space of the future.Read More
